AIGA Nashville Summer Speaker Series: Lauren Rolwing

Join AIGA Nashville June 9 at 6:30pm for the kickoff to our summer speaker series! Illustrator Lauren Rolwing will be discussing her inspirations, the concepts behind some of her projects, how she resolves creative block, the art of self promotion, and how to work with an agent. There will be a Q & A after the talk.

Lauren Rolwing graduated from The Savannah College of Art and Design where she earned a B.F.A. in Illustration and a minor in Fashion Design.  She currently works as a freelance illustrator based in Nashville, TN.  She uses Adobe Illustrator to create bold and colorful illustrators for clients such as Adidas, The New York Times, Harper's Bazaar NL, and Starwood Hotels and Resorts, among others.  She is inspired by the minimal works of artists and designers like Paul Rand, Ikko Tanaka, and Kvĕta Pacovská to the shapes in avant garde fashion by Issey Miyake.  Rolwing also seeks inspiration in the sense of humor by designer Ettore Sottsass as well as the sense of exaggerated gesture in films by Jacques Tati.  Despite the common misspelling of her last name, she is, unfortunately, not related to J.K.

The talk will be held in The Vault at ST8MNT, located in their beautiful brand new studio space at 822 3rd Ave. S. Tickets are free for members and $10 for non-members, but seating is limited! Be sure to RSVP today to save your seat!
