Join AIGA Nashville as we launch our Speaker Series. Through these monthly installments, we will hear from local design leaders and gain insight into Nashville's creative scene. Kicking off the event, we will hear from Chris Thompson AKA Chrisolux, as well as Benjamin & Genifer Sohr of Pencil & Paper Co. FoxFuel Creative will be our host, located downtown in the L&C Tower, 14th floor. In lieu of our annual Dish Student Design Conference, this first Speaker Series is student focused, but that doesn't mean there won't be something for professionals to gain! Chris Thompson | Chrisolux
Chris Thompson, aka C H R I S O L U X, is a visual artist, designer, educator, and consultant. After spending the last six years working in New York City at James Victore Inc., Chris opened his multi-disciplinary design studio in Nashville in early 2015. He’s worked for clients such as: The New York Times, TIME, Esquire, Ebony, The Centers for Disease Control, Greenpeace, and The New York Department of Probate. Chris’s work has been featured in Fast Company, Metropolis, Cool Hunting and LUST, A Traveling Journal Of Graphic Design.
Teaching, consulting and challenging perspectives is at at the heart of Chris’s work. He has taught at The School of Visual Arts and Watkins College of Art, and workshops such as The Dinner Series, and Take This Job and Love It. Chris strives to make strong, sexy, and memorable work for worthy clients and works with students and companies to unlock their creative potential.
Benjamin & Genifer Sohr | Pencil & Paper Co.
After years of bringing great success to retail brands such as Old Navy, Gap, Sprinkles and Victoria's Secret, husband and wife team Benjamin and Genifer Sohr decided to bring their own design vision to life in Ben's hometown of Nashville, TN. Pencil & Paper Co. has generated national acclaim through their stunning home renovations, innovative retail and branding concepts, and unique interior design perspective. Pencil & Paper Co.'s eye catching work has been featured in Domino, British Elle Decor, Southern Living, Better Homes and Gardens, and One Kings Lane, in addition to top design books Undecorate and Design*Sponge. Ben and Gen’s work will also be featured in an upcoming Rizzoli publication featuring the work of today’s most influential tastemakers. Most recently, Reese Witherspoon tapped their expertise for her new Southern-inspired brand Draper James' flagship location in Nashville.
